The Odd Kitchen

This blog is about food.  When I started it in June ’08 I thought of it as a fun exercise to get me writing about things I like.  Now, it seems to have a bit more shape to it, and I hope to have some time before the year ends to dress it up more presentable-like.  I’d originally made a peculiar rule against posting photographs (because I thought of them as “cheating”; I wanted people to read, not ogle) that I am slowly surmounting.

All of the recipes on this blog are made without meat.  I eat meat, but this is how I tend to cook.  I started to take food and cooking seriously, as many others have done, after my first move to California in 2000.

I currently live in San Francisco, though I have lived in several other U.S. cities, too.
